The Pitch

Hello, it's very nice to meet you. My Name is Dane Schaefer. Let me just say that I am so grateful that you could spare a moment to sit down with me. As you may well know I am here to tell you about an idea for some programming.
In the last few years of my life I have been very busy. In only the last year I have started a business at the age of 21. With the popularity of shows like Laguna Beach and likewise Miami Ink I feel I would be a great candidate for an exciting new crossover. I am young enough, with enough of a steamy personal life, to appeal to the teens and twenty somethings, but my business is compelling enough to grab the older demographics.
Oh, sorry my business... It's a hookah lounge named 'The Epicure Lounge.' It's located in Sheboygan, WI, a city of nearly 60,000. These (hookah lounges, not cities) are popping up all over the states and like I did you should also jump in front of wave as to easily ride it, instead of trying to catch up when its already passed.
You may be thinking why I am more deserving of this than say another hookah lounge? I might not be, but it was after all my idea. I would also like to mention that while everyone is in love with reality TV it is getting stale. The networks seem to be lazy and always set up in a metropolis, or some rich snobby gated community. Well, most of America doesn't live like the west coast, not everyone buys designer hand bags and drives a Mercedes (my car is a piece of shit). I feel the average American viewer would be more in tune with a person like me. I started life comfortably, but not spoiled, and I strive every day to achieve the, slowly dying, American dream.
My proposal is one of two things. First, you could either send a check my way and I will purchase equipment and hire people to film and edit my first episode. There is a lot of talent around here, plus people really seem to like poorly filmed possibly single camera shows these days. Your second option is to set up and film the pilot on your own. Either way there are more than enough interesting things going on and people walking through my door, and living in this city to fill a half hour to an hour show a week.
My final idea is to be commercial free, an unbroken episode. I am sure a few of you just shit yourself, but hear me out. We would work solely with product placement. You may be saying, "but why Dane our current format has been working since we started!" You are, for the most part, correct, but with the growing number of people downloading your TV shows wouldn't it be better to assure your advertisers that even the time-shifters and people downloading will see their product, not to mention most download services say how many people got the file... pretty good rating system, don't you think?
Now while you guys sit and twiddle your thumbs at this I am going to go on living. It's all I can do. If you are at all intrigued check back here cause I will be sure to post what you've missed. Until the pilot blog (or episode.. crossing fingers) take care of yourselves. Peace
